Transit State of Good Repair Age-Based Modeling Tool | Tool
This tool predicts the average annual cost and prioritization values for transit assets using an age-based model. It relies on the asset type and includes options for guideway, facilities, systems and stations. Users can add their own values for unit replacement cost, assumed replacement age, and a series of other inputs, or they can use the default values. A pre-populated sample tool is provided here.
Transit State of Good Repair Vehicle Modeling Tool | Tool
This tool uses a model to predict the average annual cost, the cost-minimizing replacement age, and other prioritization data for transit vehicles. It uses the vehicle type (bus, heavy-rail, light-rail and user specified), accumulated mileage and total number of vehicles to conduct the analysis. A pre-populated sample tool is provided here.
Transit State of Good Repair Condition-Based Modeling Tool | Tool
This tool predicts annual costs and estimates prioritization values for transit assets based on condition. It separates assets into categories for guideway, facilities, systems, and stations. Instructions are included within the tool file. This tool requires the installation of Excel Solver to run. A pre-populated sample tool is provided here.
Transit State of Good Repair Prioritization Modeling Tool | Tool
This model prioritizes transit asset replacement and rehabilitation projects. It uses annual budgets, project cost, project prioritization index, and pipeline year (if included) to rank the projects in order of importance. The prioritization index can be manually entered or calculated by the tool's model using asset age and three other coefficients. A pre-populated sample tool is provided here.
State of Good Repair: Prioritizing the Rehabilitation and Replacement of Existing Capital Assets and Evaluating the Implications for Transit | Research Report
This report presents a framework for transit agencies to use for prioritizing capital asset rehabilitation and replacement decisions. By applying this framework, a decision maker can answer questions about asset rehabilitation and replacement investment decisions. The published report is accompanied by four Microsoft Excel models, which are available electronically via the TRB website. This report and the models will be a valuable resource for transit agencies and will be of interest to regional, state, and federal agencies that oversee, plan, or finance public transportation.
